Upscaling your brand using a creative product design- The Panagora Blog

Upscaling your brand using a creative product design.

A great product design is very important  to your company. It is as important as a business name. A business name is an identity. It is what potential and existing customers use to identify your brand. You can’t run a successful business without a business name and that’s just how important your product design really is to your business.

Your product design tells a visual story of your brand and as research has shown, people are more likely to remember what they see than what they read. People are more likely to remember an attractive image and quick to forget an image that is drab and unprofessional.

Good designs satisfy customers and tell potential customers what your product is all about. In today’s business world, product design does much more than communicating about your product. It helps your product stand out from thousands and even millions of other similar products.

The importance of a great website design

Most businesses now have an online presence and asides from designs for products, website designs have become an integral part of product designs. A great website design is much more than a website with bright colours and clustered texts. Your website is an important aspect of your product which visitors to your website will first notice before they come in contact with your product and services.

Are visitors to your website exiting within minutes of visiting your site? Do they seem not to notice the supposedly great content on your website not to talk of your products and services? Then, you may need to ask yourself the following questions and give yourself some truthful answers. How great is my website and product design? Will my product design get my attention if I were a customer?

If your answer is no, that means there is something you are not doing right. Really, it isn’t your fault. You commissioned that graphics guy who posts ads of his designs on Instagram. He sure looked like the real deal because he got several likes and well, if he says his designs are good then, they are good.

The reality however is that your website visitors and potential customers aren’t responding to your website/product because of your product design. You may need to check your product design before going ahead to query your sales team.

Qualities of a great product design

  • It should be easy to understand Unnecessary complexities can put off customers and make you lose their attention. Customers should be able to understand what your website and product is all about and how to use them.
  • It should wow customer Does your product design wow you? If it looks okay to you then it can’t wow customers. Okay means ‘it’s just there’ and there is a difference between that and “Oh my god!”. If it looks great to you then what is your sales reports and analytics saying? While I agree that product design is not the only factor that influences sales, it sets the foundation for sales.
  • It should fit in with global trends Your product design shouldn’t be good only on a local level. Your business may be small now but it will grow and when it does will it meet international standards? Your product doesn’t have to go global first before you think global. What if your products experience a sudden international demand? You definitely do not want to wait till that happens before you create great designs for your products.
