More Info ABOUT CORONA VIRUS

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. It is known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as shortness of breath, chest pain and loss of speech or movement. It was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, China.

HOW IT SPREADS

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air, and quickly fall on nfloors or surfaces where it can be easily transmitted to non-infected person(s).

You can also be infected by breathing in the virus if you are in close proximity to someone who has COVID-19, or by touching your eyes, nose or mouth after physical contact with the virus.

HOW TO PREVENT THE COVID-19 VIRUS

According to World Health Organization (WHO), the following are some ways to prevent the spread of Covid-19 Virus;

– Clean your hands often using soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
– Keep a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing (about 2-6 feet from others).
– Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
– Sneeze into your elbow.
– Stay home if you feel unwell.
– Seek medical attention if you are experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms e.g. high fever, cough and/or difficulty in breathing.
– Follow the directions of your local health authority.
– Avoid unneeded visits to medical facilities. This allows healthcare systems to operate more efficiently, therefore, protecting you and other members of the society.
– Avoid group gatherings.
– Wear a face mask if you have to visit public places such as the grocery store or to pick up other
necessities.
– Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light
switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
– If surfaces are dirty, clean them. Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

In conclusion, ensure to keep a healthy lifestyle at home by maintaining a healthy diet, staying active and making social contact with loved ones through phone or internet. If you feel you’ve been exposed to the virus, isolating in a separate room from other family members and use of a dedicated bathroom are the best ways of keep your loved ones safe.

It is normal to feel sad, stressed, or confused during a crisis. Talking to people you trust, such as friends and family, can help. If you feel overwhelmed, talk to a health worker or counselor. It is also important to give children extra love and attention in these difficult times. There’s currently no treatment, vaccines or medicines specifically approved for fighting COVID-19.

Treatments are under investigation and will be tested through clinical trials. Please ensure you take the necessary precautions and stay safe at all times.
